Retirement Village: Outline

The partners behind a prestigious project to provide new housing and extra care facilities for older people in Hartlepool have successfully obtained formal planning approval.

The Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust with Hartlepool Borough Council, Hartlepool Primary Care Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust will now start developing the land close to Easington Road, in Hartlepool's Middle Warren area.

The scheme will provide 240 flats and bungalows with housing and care support and community facilities on site, and is a major investment in modern services. Funding for the scheme has been provided by the Department of Health, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust and the Housing Corporation.

The public consultation events held during 2005, organised by the partnership, have helped to design and shape the overall development with a view to providing further public information as the scheme progresses.

For additional information visit the Joseph Rowntree Foundation web site www.jrf.org.uk or telephone (01904) 629241.
