Many Traders are genuine and honest but there are unfortunately some who set out to mislead and con innocent victims.

Many of these incidents happen following a 'cold-call' which often catches homeowners 'off-guard'.

There are specific rules regarding contracts for goods and services which result from an unsolicited visit. Therefore if you feel that you have been a victim of any of the following scenario's then please contact Hartlepool Trading Standards as soon as possible.

• Shoddy roofing work (fascias, guttering, tiling etc)
• Poor gardening services
• Bogus charity collections
• Horrendous household renovations
