Carlton Outdoor Education Centre: Outline

Carlton Mission Statement...
"To be an outstanding and first choice provider of Outdoor Education through the delivery of activities and experiences that enable every visitor to reach their full potential"

Our Aims

  • To provide a welcoming and caring environment in which all visitors and staff feel supported, safe and secure.
  • To ensure that all visitors have equal access to high quality instruction and activities that maximise their learning opportunities and raise standards of achievement.
  • To support the work of schools through the delivery of high quality outdoor education that links to and supports the National Curriculum, Key Skills, the Every Child Matters agenda and the Learning Outside the Classroom manifesto.
  • To be a first choice provider of residential outdoor education, for primary age pupils, particularly within the boroughs of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland.
  • To promote the use of the centre, its facilities and programmes of activity, by clients from the wider community.
  • To foster caring attitudes to our natural surroundings and develop sustainable lifestyles.

Location
The Centre is located in the small and picturesque village of Carlton-in-Cleveland at the foot of the Cleveland hills and in the North York Moors National Park.

Set against a spectacular backcloth of wooded hillsides, our surroundings give us easy access to forests, farmland and rolling heather moorland.

Within a short travelling time there are many locations for adventurous pursuits, the coast, numerous historic sites and a wealth of environments to explore.
