Licence - Sunday trading: Outline
The Sunday Trading Act 1994 restricts Sunday retail trading from any large shop whose internal floor area is larger than 280 square metres (i.e. area used to display goods and customer services).
Smaller shops are not subject to any form of trading restriction.
Large shops are able to trade on a Sunday for a six hour period between 10.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m.
However, large shops are not permitted to open on Easter Sunday or Christmas Day when it falls on a Sunday.
