Conservation: Outline
The Conservation Team advises the Council's Development Control Team on planning applications affecting historic buildings and conservation areas.
Conservation staff provide advice and deal with applications for the Council's grant aid scheme for historic building repairs, as well as proposals to maintain and improve the town's built heritage.
Responsibilities also include considering the need for new conservation areas and developing guidance to protect the character of the town's conservation areas.
