Road Adoption: Outline
Any new housing development that involves the construction of more than five dwellings will be subject to the Advance Payments Code. This requires the developer to pay, or secure, a sum of money equivalent to that needed to construct a road to an adoptable standard to serve the properties.
Roads can also become adopted, and maintained by the Council, by dedication by the land-owner. The roads must, however, be constructed to an acceptable standard.
