Death - registering: Outline
Deaths should be registered within 5 days with a Registrar of Births and Deaths. Registration can not take place until the medical certificate for cause of death has been issued.
Sometimes the coroner needs to be involved and, if so, the registrar cannot register the death until the coroner has completed any investigation that he or she decides is necessary.
