Hartlepool Borough Council is the local billing authority responsible for the collection of council tax and business rates in the Hartlepool area. Council tax is charged on most homes and business rates (also called National Non Domestic Rates) are payable on all commercial properties.
The money collected is used to help provide the services run by Hartlepool Borough Council, Cleveland Police Authority, Cleveland Fire Authority and the local parish councils.
