The personal search facility enables anyone to inspect the land charges register and there is a statutory fee for this service of £22.00. The register is open to the public during normal office hours. Staff are available to assist personal searchers between 10am and 12 noon and 2pm and 4pm each day. Prior notice of the address to be searched, together with relevant plan, will reduce waiting time. Appointments are available each day between 10am and 12 noon by telephoning the registration section on 01429 523037.
Hartlepool Borough Council's Local Land Charges department carries out local searches on behalf of house purchasers to reveal information such as highway details, planning decisions and tree preservation orders which could affect the property.
