A to Z of services: Financial assessment for care

Financial assessment for care: Outline

The Government has set guidelines called "Fairer Charging" to make sure that councils don't charge you more than you can afford for care services in your own home or when you attend a day centre.

The User Property and Finance Team within Adult and Community Services provides financial assessment for all people who receive a charge for service from the department. They also support people in the community who are unable to manage their own finances.

A financial assessment forms part of an assessment of need which is a gathering of information about what your needs are, how you cope and what assistance you may need.

Access to the service is through Adult and Community Services Duty Team.
