Home care: Outline
Personal care at home can be provided to people who need support. Services are arranged following an assessment of need. This is a gathering of information about what your needs are, how you cope and what assistance you may need.
These services are subject to charges, in accordance with Hartlepool Borough Councils Fairer Charging Policy.
Domestic or personal care at home will be charged at the full cost of care, subject to an overall weekly maximum. Means tested assistance is available to service user who will be offered a full financial assessment of their income and outgoing to establish the amount they are able to pay towards to cost of their care. The assessment will be based on a face-to-face interview. The service user may wish to have a friends or relative present to support them.
Following financial assessment domestic and personal care at home will be charged at an hourly rate, subject to the service user's ability to pay. Charges levied under the Supporting People provisions will also count against the overall maximum charge.
Hartlepool's Adult and Community Services Community Support Service and all contracted independent providers are registered with the National Care Standards Commission. This is an independent body, which has responsibility for the regulation of social care and private and voluntary health care in England. The Commission regulates and inspects Home Care Services against national minimum standards.
