Hartlepool Borough Council is responsible for the cleansing of streets, pavements, footpaths, pedestrian areas and verges and removal of litter. Please be aware that some verges, pathways and footpaths on private housing estates may not be maintained by the Council.
The council provides and maintains bins to try and prevent the depositing of litter in public places and arranges for the bins to be emptied on a weekly basis.
The street cleansing programme provides the frequent cleansing of streets, gullies, car parks, public conveniences and other public areas to remove litter, build up of leaves or any other conditions which could pose a risk to public health and safety.
