Adult Social Care: Surveys and research

PSS survey

 » About the PSS survey

The annual Personal Social Services (PSS) user experience survey gives you the chance to tell us what you think about adult social care services.

The PSS survey is a national survey: every local authority in the country with responsibility for social services takes part.

In earlier years, the survey has been about specific areas such as equipment or home care.  This year (2011) the survey covers all areas of adult social care to give us a better idea of what people think of our services.

» Who takes part in the PSS survey?

This year we will post PSS questionnaires to 1000 eligible people, chosen at random from our social care database.

The questionnaires do not carry names or addresses.  Your answers are anonymous and we will treat them confidentially.

» What happens with the results of the PSS survey?

We will use the results of the PSS survey to find out how happy people across Hartlepool are with our services.  We will also use the results to see whether we need to make improvements to local care services, and for further research or analysis.

We will share the results with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Department of Health so that we can compare our services with those of other local authorities across the country.

The final report will be made available to anyone who would like to see it.
