Yes all relevant building works are inspected for compliance with the Building Regulations.  

If you have submitted an application to the local authority for your building work then you must be inform us when the work has reached certain statutory stages for inspection.

Failure to notify at the appropriate stages will likely result in a notice to open up the work being served and may result in the withholding of a completion certificate at the end of the job.  

The frequency of inspections depends on the type of work you are doing and this will usually be discussed and explained in documentation issued after approval or validation. 

It must be borne in mind that the Building Control Service does not act as a Clerk of Works.   Supervision of the contractor is the responsibility of the applicant or appointed agent.
