Q: What happens if I contravene the Regulations?
It is an offence to contravene the requirements of the Building Regulations. The local authority can take enforcement action if this occurs and if convicted there are penalties which impose a liability of a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale and to a further fine of up to £50 per day if the offence continues.
In all cases before any court action is taken or fines are made we will always endeavour to resolve the situation with yourself or the builder to ensure a satisfactory outcome and that the regulations are met.
