Yes, as the bottle tops are made from a different type of plastic to the bottles so separating them before you pop them in your bin makes the sorting process at the recycling plant more efficient. After removing the bottle top, both the bottle and the top should be placed in the grey recycling bin.

It also makes it easier for the bottles to be compacted for transportation.
