The Building Regulations are National Regulations set by Parliament that must be complied with when building work is carried out. The Building Regulations are aimed at ensuring the health and safety of people in and around buildings and that reasonable provisions are made for the conservation of fuel and power and access and use of buildings. Building Regulations Approval must be obtained for work to comply with Building Regulations. Some building work may also be subject to controls under Planning legislation.
