Answer:
This is a national procedure set by the Government that must be complied with when various forms of building and engineering work and changes in the use of buildings and land is carried out.
Planning permission is not always required but planning permission must be obtained when it is required. Some work may also be subject to other controls most commonly the Buidling Regulations.
