Landlord Accreditation Scheme
Hartlepool Borough Council operates a voluntary Landlord Accreditation Scheme which aims to encourage an improvement in the management and conditions of houses in the private rented sector, by providing a reliable and accessible source of advice, information and assistance to member landlords.
Member landlords agree to manage and maintain their properties in accordance with a Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets out standards that we expect landlords to achieve. Inspections are carried out to ensure that landlords are meeting the agreed standards.
A regular newsletter is sent to all member landlords to keep them up to date with changes in legislation and local issues.
A Private Landlords Forum is held every quarter, in partnership with the Housing Benefits Department, to discuss topical issues and provides training on private sector housing matters. The forum is open to all private landlords and managing agents operating in Hartlepool.
