Collections

The service holds a collection of over thousand coins and tokens. Much of this collection is dated to the 19th and 20th century. There are also more historic examples, some of which relate specifically to Hartlepool. The collection also includes foreign and ancient coins including examples of ancient Greek and Roman currency.

There are also around one hundred and fifty medals and medallions in the collection. This collection has a strong local connection. They include the medals of Hartlepool mayor and Heugh Gun Battery commander Lancelot Robson, as well as attendance medallions from local schools.
