Traffic Calming
Requests are received for a variety of traffic calming measures including speed humps, build outs and pedestrian islands.
Traffic calming has to be justified by speed survey results identifying a problem and in areas with a significant casualty record.
Areas such as this are targeted for safety schemes, however, areas which don't meet this criteria could be eligible for funding under the Council's Safer Streets Initiative.
Any proposals under the initiative will need to be both acceptable to the local community and appropriate to the road conditions.
