Joint Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents for the Tees Valley

The five local authorities in the Tees Valley - Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees - have prepared joint development plan documents (DPDs) to set out planning policies and site allocations on minerals and waste developments until 2026.

The Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Core Strategy DPD was submitted to the Secretary of State on 12 November 2010 and the Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Policies and Sites DPD was submitted on 15 November 2010, in accordance with Regulation 30 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008. An Examination in Public was held in February 2011 with hearings on the 8th, 9th and 23rd of February. The Inspectors Report was received on the 16th May 2011. The Inspectors Report found the DPD's sound with no further changes required. The Council agreed to adopt the DPD's on the 4th August 2011. The Tees Valley authorities formally adopted the DPD's on the 15th September 2011. They will now form part of the Development Plan for the Borough and replace all minerals and waste policies in the adopted Local Plan.
