Starting School (Primary) Admissions for 2012-2013

For children born between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008.

If your child was born between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008, he or she will be due to start primary school in September 2012.

The application period is between 28th November 2011 and 15th January 2012.  You can make your application on-line during this period.

Before completing your preference form, please read the "Primary Education in Hartlepool" booklet carefully. This booklet will be issued to your child at their nursery school during the week commencing 28th November 2011. If your child is absent, or doesn't attend a private or mainstream nursery in Hartlepool, the pack will be posted to your home address.

This booklet gives information on the admissions process and lots of information which you may find useful.

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. You may wish to obtain as much information as you can about them. This will give you a better idea of which schools might suit your child best. For example, you might like to:

• Visit the primary schools - by making appointments to visit the schools that you are interested in.
• Read the schools' most recent Ofsted reports
• Read the schools' prospectuses
• Contact the Choice Adviser to receive free, impartial and independent advice on expressing a preference for a primary school for your child. Contact the Choice Adviser by email at: choiceadviser@hartlepool.gov.uk

To secure your child's place at primary school, you must submit your application by 15th January 2012. If your application is received after this deadline, we will treat it as late and deal with it after the applications which were received on time.
