Vehicle Amnesty Scheme Criteria
The Council runs a Vehicle Amnesty Scheme, which is intended to encourage people to surrender old cars that are rusting away in gardens and on driveways; these quickly become eyesores and are often the subject of arson attacks. The Council will safely dispose of these vehicles free of charge.
For a vehicle to be eligible for the Vehicle Amnesty Scheme it must meet the following criteria:
- It must be located in Hartlepool
- It must be in a location that is accessible for the towing vehicle/crane
- The person surrendering the vehicle must be the registered owner/keeper and be able to provide us with the log book, which we will complete and send to the DVLA
