Obtaining a Birth Certificate

If you were born in Hartlepool then in most cases you will be able to get your birth certificate from Hartlepool Register Office.   We are also able to produce certificates from most Marriage and Death registrations.  (see below for exceptions)

The current standard delivery time is 5 working days, but an express service is available at a small additional charge.

We aim to produce all certificates within 5 working days or to contact you about any delay.

Application may be made in person, by post or over the telephone.  Payment must be made at the time of application.

Exceptions

We can not produce certificates for events occurring on  The Headland between 1/4/1953 and 31/3/1967.   These are available from Stockton.

We can not supply certificates from recent marriages in churches.  In the case of some churches, recent, as used here, can mean up to 7 - 10 years.

Recent Births.     In the case of recent births which took place in North Tees Hospital, Stockton on Tees, certificates will only be available from Stockton Register Office, 01642 393939 ask for Register Office.
