With a few exceptions the indexes to Hartlepool's births, deaths and marriages from 1837 are now available on the internet.

The website, developed in conjunction with our neighbouring register offices allows searches to be carried out on the indexes themselves, and has an email verification facility to enable you to confirm whether the entry you find is the one you are seeking.

Using the Index

Certificates can then be ordered as required from the Register Office for collection or despatch as you choose.

Steps are currently being taken to complete the content of the web indexes, but listed on the website are details of the main gaps in the data.

Verification Facility

Please note that the entry verification facility can at times be rather heavily used and we cannot guarantee a response time, although we aim to answer 95% of such enquiries within 5 working days.

This service can only be used for genuine verification enquiries and not for protracted 'fishing trips' through our indexes.

Multiple enquiries of an indefinite or protracted nature may be ignored in order that we can deal with the enquiries that the service was intended for. Your co-operation in this will be greatly appreciated.
