Houses in Multiple Occupation
The team investigates complaints about HMOs, which includes bedsits and shared houses. These properties have to meet a minimum standard for facilities, escape from fire and management. We will advise property owners about the works required to make a property suitable before it is let.
From 6 April 2006, HMOs with 3 or more storeys with 5 or more occupants who share amenities such as a bathroom or kitchen, will need to be licensed.
