Neighbourhood Management

Looking After Your Area

Neighbourhood Area Teams provide day-to-day environmental and amenity maintenance of the highway and other public areas, including services such as street cleansing, grounds maintenance, minor repairs to street lights, footpaths and highways.

'Towncare' has delivered benefits in terms of responsiveness and quality of service delivered.  For example, the improved speed of response for rapid repairs with respect to highway and footpath maintenance, street lighting and highway signs, etc, and eliminated quality problems caused by demarcation boundaries in street cleansing and grounds maintenance.

Three Neighbourhood Managers, who have responsibility for a geographical area of the town, manage 'Towncare'.  They work closely with community groups and resident associations to facilitate improvements and assist in attracting funds for specific projects.  In addition to this, they co-ordinate the Neighbourhood Consultative Forums, which have the same geographical area.

Each forum has an £85,000 minor works budget to address local needs on environmental, highway, community safety and housing issues.

There are a number of online forms which can be used to report various neighbourhood related issues, such as Fly Tipping, Graffiti, Abandoned Vehicles, etc.  You can also report Refuse/Recycling problems and request new Recycling containers here too.  See the "Report It" section of the website.
