Neighbourhood Management

Meet Your Resident Representatives

Resident Representatives are elected by local people every two years.  Their role is to act as representatives for their ward and forward key issues to the relevant Council departments and partner agencies.

For example, this could include issues around speeding traffic, anti social behaviour and environmental issues, to name but a few.

They regularly attend Neighbourhood Forums, Community Network meetings and NAP (Neighbourhood Action Plan) Forums.  Resident Representatives are also elected to Scrutiny Forums where issues are looked at in more depth.

Please see links below to find out who the Resident Representatives for your area are and how you can contact them:

Interested in becoming a Resident Representative?

There are 25 resident representatives townwide - 8 in the North; 10 in the Centre; and 7 in the South.  Elections take place every two years and are publicised throughout the town.  Occasionally vacancies arise if a representative steps down for whatever reason and these will follow the same process.  As each area has a number of Wards, we do try to have representation from all Wards, although this may not always be possible.

Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting the appropriate Neighbourhood Development Officer for the area.  Interested parties will receive a nomination form, together with Terms of Reference and a Code of Conduct.  Please note that all Resident Representatives are required to undergo a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check.
