VISITORS to Hartlepool Civic Centre and the adjoining Law Courts are advised that essential repair work is ongoing at the front entrance to the building. Access is restricted during these works

Street Cleansing

Sweeping and Litter Picking

Hartlepool Borough Council cleanse public areas throughout the town.  These include all main roads and the following:

  • Roundabouts
  • Traffic islands
  • Highway verges
  • Service roads
  • Recycling Centres
  • Footways
  • Lay-bys
  • Paved areas
  • Car parks

We inspect the streets and sweep or litter pick as necessary at the following frequencies:

  • Town centre: Daily
  • Urban through routes: Fortnightly
  • Residential streets: Fortnightly/Monthly
  • Trunk roads and slip roads: Quarterly (subject to conditions)
  • Villages, including roads: Monthly
  • Rural roads: Annually

We also:

  • Respond to reports of litter, flytipping, graffiti and flyposting 
  • Provide and empty litterbins and dogfoul bins
  • Respond to complaints of litter within 24 hours
  • Wash and disinfect areas of the town centre as required
  • Respond to all formal complaints within 15 working days in-line with the corporate complaints procedure

We do not clear rubbish from private properties or land owned by other organisations.  However we can clear these areas by prior arrangement for an agreed charge, annual contracts can also be agreed.
