Hartlepool 's Maritime Experience is home of an authentic reconstruction of an 18th Century naval seaport where visitors can step back in time to a remarkable period in British history. Regular musketry, cannon firing and sword fighting all help in bringing the past to life.
Featuring the short film 'Pressganged', replica quayside shops, a Children's Adventure Centre and Playship, the Maritime Experience is a fun-filled day out for all. See what life was like onboard a warship in our newly refurbished audio visual tour 'Fighting Ships' before exploring the real thing - HMS Trincomalee, the oldest warship afloat in the UK . The Museum of Hartlepool , with free entry, can also give an insight into the amazing history and heritage this town holds.
All quay staff are dressed according to the period to add to the atmosphere and there are regular musketry (gun firing), cannon firing and swordfighting displays (please check for times).
