Youth Offending Performance Measures
Performance Management
The YJB's performance management framework flows from Government Public Service Agreements and the YJB's corporate targets for the youth justice system, which together determine YOS's priorities.
The performance management framework is designed to help locally managed youth justice services achieve individual, team, service, community and national aims and objectives. Performance management helps staff in youth justice services to:
+ prioritise what gets done and ensure there are sufficient resources to do it
+ ensure local authorities provide value for money
+ motivate and manage staff
+ identify and rectify poor performance at an early stage
+ learn form past performance and improve future performance
+ increase user and public satisfaction
+ ensure that diversity and ethnicity issues and any speech, language and communication issues are appropriately dealt with.
The Government and the YJB regard performance management as an essential tool for achieving local and national priorities. It is also a way to demonstrate that local authorities are able to achieve important objectives with less Government control.
