Reprimand
A reprimand is given to a young person by a police officer in uniform, at a Police Station, if they have been arrested or attended voluntarily and admit they are guilty of a minor first offence. There must be sufficient evidence for a prosecution.
A record of your reprimand is kept by the police until the young persons 18th birthday and will be mentioned in any future court proceedings
The young person will be referred to the Youth Offending Service (YOS) and invited to take part in a voluntary programme to help them address their offending behaviour.
