Environmental Sustainability
Information about the Environmental Policy, Strategy and Action Plan
Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to reducing the environmental impacts of its own activities and to promoting sustainable development throughout the Borough.
The Environmental Policy outlines how the Council will integrate environmental considerations into all it's activities.
Environmental Sustainability is about improving quality of life in a way that doesn't cause irreversible damage to the environment, or prevent future generations from being able to benefit from the things that we enjoy today.
The Environmental Sustainability Strategy is an overview of the various areas of work that contribute to environmental sustainability in the Borough of Hartlepool.
Small-scale individual actions can together have a large impact upon a whole range of environmental, social, economic and quality of life issues.
The Environmental Sustainability Action Plan sets out a clear plan for progressing these actions, and outlines how that progress will be measured.
One of the aims of the Environmental Sustainability Strategy is to "protect and enhance the natural environment and ensure that the biodiversity of local wildlife and plants is valued and protected". The Biodiversity Report aims to provide a summary of all the work that has been undertaken since the adoption of the strategy and also to look at further opportunities for conservation and enhancement of biodiversity within the Borough.
