About School Meals
Hartlepool Borough Council Catering service is committed to providing a nutritionally balanced midday meal to all children. Current trends indicate that levels of obesity in children are rising to such an extent that their life span will be less than their parents. We as a service have an obligation to the children to help to try and reverse this sad state of affairs by encouraging them to follow a healthy lifestyle, particularly choosing healthy food.
Hartlepool Borough Council is a small authority that is very proud of the fact that the majority of all the Hartlepool schools have chosen to use the Council's School Meals Service as its meal provider. All Hartlepool schools have their own cooking facilities on site, where we prepare a wide selection of fresh, healthy, balanced, hot and cold meals, on a daily basis. All of our cooks are fully trained and all recently completed a CIEH in Nutrition.
