Help shape the future of the Waverley Terrace Allotments Project

Since 2007 Waverley Allotment Group has been working to transform the unused land at Waverley Terrace into a vibrant community allotment site.  Users of the site have included schools, Hartlepool College of Further Education , Hartlepool MIND, Disc and Hartlepool Adult Services.  In 2011, the group were given the opportunity to expand the project and take over the adjacent unused land.

The group are currently planning for the future of the allotment site and how they can involve other partners and the local community.  They would like to hear your views!

You can complete a brief questionnaire on the plans and find out more about the project on their website.

New tenants rulebook

We are currently developing a new rule book for tenants. The new rules will clear up many of the grey areas and loop holes in the current regulations and will make tenants' rights and responsibilities much clearer. We are working with the allotment associations to ensure that both the tenants and the Council are happy with the new rule book.

In order to do this we have set up a focus group with a representative from each allotment association to discuss the current rules and propose amendments. We have now entered the discussion phase where the focus group members take these proposals back to their allotment sites and discuss them with their fellow tenants. This period will run until early December when the group will reconvene to finalise the new rule book, which will be implemented next year.

We welcome input from all tenants on the new rule book so if you have not already done so please discuss the proposals with your allotment association and pass your comments on to them. You can also download copies of the minutes of the first session and the proposals below. If you have any comments that you would like to make to us directly please email allotments@hartlepool.gov.uk.
