Countryside Wardens

The Countryside Wardens are responsible for managing five of the six Local Nature Reserves in the Borough of Hartlepool.  You can also become involved with management work on these reserves by becoming a Countryside Volunteer.

Activities and events for all ages are provided by the Wardens throughout the year.  Events are advertised in the Countryside Events leaflet called 'Wild About Hartlepool'.  Printed copies of this leaflet are available from all Council Buildings.   If you would like to book a place or places on one of the events in the programme this can be done using an online booking form.  Alternatively you should contact the Countryside Wardens on the relevant telephone number given in the events leaflet.

Their duties also include the organisation of  various environmental education activities for local schools and community groups, and offering guidance and advice to the public on countryside and conservation matters.

The Wardens are part of the "Partnership for Nature". This is a unique collaboration between British Energy, English Nature, Teesmouth Field Centre and Hartlepool Borough Council aiming to improve the countryside around Hartlepool.
