Volunteers are a vital part of the Countryside section, without their assistance the Local Nature Reserves, Public Rights of Way and the wider countryside of Hartlepool would not be in such excellent condition.

Volunteers can become involved in many duties including:

  • Practical conservation tasks on the Local Nature Reserves
  • Stewarding of guided walks and public events
  • Public Rights of Way monitoring
  • Public Rights of Way maintenance

No previous experience or qualifications are required.   You can volunteer as much or as little time as you wish, and you decide what type of work you would like to be involved with.

All volunteers are asked to complete a medical questionnaire and a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check. (The CRB check is required as all volunteers may come into contact with children and/or vulnerable adults).

People volunteer for many different reasons and because of this any potential new volunteer is guaranteed to meet new people, learn new skills, gain valuable experience and make a difference to Hartlepool's countryside.

You can make an application to become a countryside volunteer using an online application form.  Or, alternatively, you can download and print an application form and post it to the Countryside Team at Hartlepool Power Station, Tees Road, Hartlepool.  TS25 2BZ.

To find out more information about volunteering please e-mail countrysidewardens@hartlepool.gov.uk or telephone 01429 853325 for an informal chat.
