New Recycling Service

The new system explained

The way that Hartlepool Borough Council collects your kerbside refuse/recycling changed from 1st April 2013. The Council has introduced a new and improved refuse and recycling collection service. The new service makes recycling much simpler and easier!

If you live in Wynyard please click here to find out how your service will be changing.

The old system of white poly bag, blue bag and blue box will be replaced with a new set-up using fewer containers. The white poly bag and blue bag will be combined and replaced with a single wheeled bin (similar to your green refuse bin). The blue box will stay but will only be used for glass (the cans and foil will also go into your new bin). You will also keep your green refuse bin and your (optional) brown garden waste bin.

The day of the week and the time of day that your bins are emptied is also likely to change. This is because collections will now be carried out from Tuesday to Friday each week. You can use the "FIND MY STREET" facility to check your new collection dates.

Each household in the town will receive an 8-page leaflet explaining the new service. These will be distributed from the 4th February, and you can download a copy of the leaflet here.

Listen to our new informational advert running on Radio Hartlepool 102.4fm from the 11th February.

We are experiencing some delays in returning to pick up missed recycling collections so it may take a little longer than expected to get back for your recyclig bin. Apologies for any inconvenience.
