Key Achievements
Many organisations in the partnership can point to successes during 2008/09, including:
· All schools in Hartlepool were above the Department of Children, Schools and Families threshold of 30% for A* - C at GCSE;
· The percentage of pupils attaining 5 or more A* - C at GCSE in 2008 at 66.8% is above the national average of 64.8%;
· Key Stage 2 SAT results in 2008 placed Hartlepool above the national average in Science , Maths and English, with some of the most improved results in the country;
· The number of young people Not in Education, Employment or Training reduced further to 8%;
· Hartlepool has received Play Builder funding worth £1.29 million to improve play facilities across the town;
· The Building Schools for the Future outline business case to release the funding has been approved unconditionally;
· Work on the Primary Capital Programme has started and Jesmond Road Primary School will be rebuilt;
· Headland Futures has secured over £4 million to build new facilities for young people in the north of the town.
