Economic Development - Tourism
The Tourism section of the Economic Development team works to promote Hartlepool as a visitor destination regionally, nationally and internationally.
The service works very closely with the existing tourism stakeholders in Hartlepool to promote its many attractions, accommodation and events programmes.
Each year the service is responsible for the production of a Hartlepool Mini-Guide, 40,000 of which are printed and distributed promoting Hartlepool through the network of Tourist Information Centres, leisure centres and attractions within approximately one hours travelling distance.
The service also works to bring together the Tees Valley Visitor Guide on an annual basis, 100,000 of which are distributed nationally via the network of Tourist Information Centres.
The service also delivers a programme of training courses for the Hartlepool tourism operators at subsidised prices. Courses are mainly concerned with customer service and customer care although topics such as Management, PR and First-Aid have also been delivered.
