With Christmas not far off, there’s an opportunity to find some beautiful and original Christmas presents at a popular exhibition which opens in town next month.

Hartlepool Art Club’s 71st annual exhibition opens with a special preview night at Hartlepool Art Gallery in Church Square on Friday 15 November from 7pm to 9pm. The exhibition then officially opens on Saturday 16 November.

The exhibition, which attracts people from the town and further afield, will showcase a range of both representative and experimental artwork by the club’s current members and will feature a variety of techniques and subject matter.

There will also be an opportunity to stock up on some truly unique Christmas presents with everything from stationery to hand-crafted jewellery, homeware and fashion accessories.

Ashley Landsbury, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Cultural Officer, said: “We are very proud to once again be hosting Hartlepool Art Club’s Exhibition and giving our talented Art Club members a much-deserved platform to showcase their inspirational work.

“We hope people come and browse our Christmas shop which is bursting with gorgeous, unique gifts for that special someone.”

Hartlepool Art Club is one of the largest clubs in the North-East and currently has around 100 adult members, ranging from enthusiastic beginners to experienced painters, while the ‘Dabble In Art’ group has 15 members from junior to secondary school age.

Hartlepool Art Club meets every second Wednesday of the month in the art gallery and new members and visitors are always welcome. For details visit www.hartlepoolartclub.co.uk

The exhibition runs until Saturday 11 January 2020. The art gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 5pm, except for bank holidays, and entry is free.
