If you or someone you live with is disabled, a disabled facilities grant (DFG) may help pay for an adaptation.
A DFG is money from us to adapt the home of a person with a disability to enable them to continue to live there. A grant is considered when we consider that the changes are necessary and appropriate to meet specific needs and that the work proposed is considered reasonable and practicable.
DFGs are grants for essential adaptations to give disabled people support to live as independently as possible.
The legislation covering DFGs in England and Wales is the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
Typical works covered
- Installation of stairlifts
- Bathroom and kitchen adaptations
