How occupational therapists (OTs) help
Our occupational therapists (OTs) support adults and children in Hartlepool who find everyday tasks difficult due to disability, illness or age. Their goal is to help people live as independently as possible.
OTs can:
- provide equipment like walking sticks, bath aids or grab rails
- assess for home adaptations such as stairlifts, ramps or extra banister rails
OTs are responsible for carrying out moving and handling risk assessments. For example, if anyone needed to be hoisted at home it is the OT’s responsibility to train the carers and/or family members to use the hoisting equipment safely and correctly.
Where do OTs work?
