Fraud affects everyone. It reduces the funding available for essential services and increases the burden on honest taxpayers.
If you suspect someone is committing fraud, such as falsely claiming Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Support, or a single person discount, please let us know.
How to report fraud
You can report suspected fraud in the following ways:
Use our secure form to report Council Tax fraud, including single person discount fraud.
Please provide as much detail as possible, such as:
- the full name of the person
- their address
- their date of birth (if known)
- what you believe they are doing
You can remain anonymous, but you may include your contact details if you wish.
If the person is claiming other benefits (e.g. Universal Credit), report it to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP):

We review all reports as soon as possible. Due to confidentiality, we cannot share the outcome of any investigation.
