A citizenship ceremony is the final step in becoming a British citizen. Once your application is approved by the Home Office, you’ll be invited to attend a ceremony.
Do I have to attend?
Yes, you must attent a citizenship ceremony if you are over 18 and living in the UK.
Children under 18 are not required to attend but are welcome to join the ceremony.
When and where are ceremonies held?
- public group ceremonies are held once a month in the Civic Suite at Hartlepool Civic Centre.
- you may also request a private ceremony.

How to book
You do not need to contact us to book a ceremony. When we receive your certificate from the Home Office we will send you a letter via post or email inviting you to a ceremony.
