Our Staying Close programme provides enhanced support for care-experienced young people moving from residential or semi-independent care into independent living.
We support Former Relevant Care Leavers from age 16, helping to improve outcomes in key areas:
- finding a safe and stable home
- managing a home and developing independent living skills
- promoting health and wellbeing
- achieving in education, employment or training
- building trusting relationships and reducing loneliness
- supporting former unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) who are eligible

Dedicated Staying Close Support Worker
Works alongside your Social Worker or Personal Adviser to provide emotional and practical support with moving on from care, settling into your own home, and building self-care skills. -
Employability Support
Help with CV writing, interview skills, college or apprenticeship applications, bespoke learning packages, and job searches. -
Life Coaching
Face-to-face or virtual sessions to help you set life goals and plan realistic steps to achieve them. -
Assistant Psychologist Support
1:1 input to overcome barriers to learning or employment. -
Life Skills Day Trips
Build confidence and skills for travelling outside Hartlepool. -
Group Activities
Opportunities to meet other Staying Close care leavers and build friendships. -
Drop-in Support
Available every weekday at the Pathfinders Hub. -
UASC Support Group
Specialist support for former unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
