We understand that all families face challenges from time to time. Our Children’s Services teams are here to support you, whether you need early advice or more formal help.
What is early help?
Early help is support for children and families at the earliest stages of life or when a problem first arises. It’s available for families with children aged:
- 0 to 19 years
- up to 25 years for children with additional or complex needs
Early help is designed to:
- prevent problems from escalating
- support families to manage day-to-day challenges
- improve outcomes for children and young people
Early help services include:
- health visiting – support for new parents and babies
- children’s centres – activities and advice for families
- school nursing – health and wellbeing support in schools
- family workers – practical help and guidance at home
New baby? We’re here to help

Neurodevelopmental pathway
We’ve worked with NHS partners across Hartlepool and Stockton-on-Tees to create a needs-led neurodevelopmental pathway. This supports children with potential needs related to:
- Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
If you or a professional believes your child may have a neurodevelopmental need, help is available.
