Measuring our emissions
We have calculated our carbon footprint for each financial year since 2018/19, using that year as our baseline. We use the greenhouse gas accounting tool developed by Local Partnerships and the Local Government Association to calculate our emissions.
Understanding emission scopes
- scope 1: direct emissions from fuel use (e.g. heating buildings, council vehicles)
- scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased energy (e.g. electricity)
- scope 3: other indirect emissions (e.g. business travel, waste disposal, purchased goods and services)
