Reading groups

Join a reading, writing or poetry group

If you are interested in joining a local reading, writing or poetry group, you are in the right place.

Groups usually meet once a month in a community hub, library or online. Each group discusses one book or piece of writing chosen in advance. We provide copies free of charge through the library.

Some groups have limited spaces. If the group you are interested in is full, you can join a waiting list and we will contact you when a space becomes available. If there is enough interest, we may start new groups.

Support for existing reading groups

If you are already part of a reading group in Hartlepool, or want to start one, we can help. We offer sets of up to 10 books per group per session. You just need to be a library member - it’s free to join.
